Before you start
- Your store is created.
- You have created at least one category (if not, start with the guide “Create your first category”).
- You are logged in to your admin area.
Have a nice photo of your product ready: it's what makes people want to buy.
What you'll learn
- Open the product creation form.
- Fill in the essentials: name, category, price, quantity.
- Add a photo and publish your product.
Step by step
Step 1 — Open “New product”
In the left-hand menu, open Catalog then My products, and click “+ Add a new product”. (You can also click New product directly in the menu.)
Step 2 — Fill in the essentials
On the Details step, fill in the 4 must-have fields:
- Product name (marker ②) — clear and specific. Example: Vanilla cupcakes.
- Category (marker ③) — pick an existing category. The first one selected becomes the main category.
- Price (marker ④) — the selling price, in your store's currency.
- Quantity (marker ⑤) — the stock available for sale.
Also add a description: a few sentences that entice and reassure.
Step 3 — Add one or more photos
Move to the Image(s) step and upload at least one photo of your product. The first image becomes the main photo.
Step 4 — Publish your product
Finish on the Preview & publish step. Check the preview, then turn on publishing. Your product is now visible in your store.
Expected result
Your product appears in the My products list (marker ⑥), with its photo, category and price. The Publish toggle is on. You can edit, preview or delete it anytime.
Expert tips
- Nail the first photo. It's what shows in listings and drives the click.
- Price it right, not by magic. Look at your costs and the competition before setting the price.
- Describe benefits, not just features. “Soft and preservative-free” beats “120 g”.
- Keep stock up to date. A realistic quantity avoids selling what you no longer have.
Common mistakes
| Mistake | Why it's a problem | The fix |
|---|---|---|
| No photo (or a blurry one) | The product inspires little trust and sells poorly. | Add at least one sharp, well-lit photo. |
| Quantity left at 0 | The product shows but can't be purchased. | Enter the stock actually available. |
| Forgetting to publish | The product stays an invisible draft. | Finish the “Preview & publish” step and turn it on. |
| No category selected | The product is “uncategorized” and hard to find. | Pick a category on the Details step. |
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to fill everything in one go?
No. Information is saved at each step. You can create a draft, come back later, then publish when everything's ready.
How many photos can I add?
Several. The first is the main photo; the rest appear in the product page gallery. Show the product from different angles.
Can I sell a product without limited stock?
Simply enter a high quantity if your stock is large. Remember to adjust it as sales come in to stay realistic.
How do I offer sizes or colors?
Use Variants (step 3 of the form). See the guide “Create product options”.
My product doesn't appear in the store — why?
Check that it is published (toggle on), has a quantity above 0 and a visible category.
Can I change the price after publishing?
Yes, anytime. Click Edit from the list, change the price, then save. The store updates immediately.
